…it is mandatory!

If you live on earth like me, you have noticed that many negative things happen everywhere we look. Everything from inequity in education to the opioid crisis to COVID to mass shootings… things can seem as though they are all bad.

Just hearing about all of the things happening around you can affect you. On top of world news, we have everything happening in our own lives. Our jobs, kids, health, and finances are all things that we handle daily. It can all feel overwhelming and take a toll on our mental and physical health. We need to create a plan for self-care and boundaries to support mental wellness more than ever.

Here are 4 ways that can help!

1. Turn off your notifications
Turning off all unnecessary alerts on your devices is beneficial when you are productive. Being alerted every time a comment is made on your IG post does not allow you to focus on what you are doing. If you have a hard time committing to turning off the alerts, at least place your phone on, do not disturb from time to time.

2. Take pauses during the day
Giving yourself permission to take small breaks between tasks is a great way to have built-in mindfulness moments throughout the day. Pausing for a break will allow you to reset your thoughts and refocus your mind.

3. Sitting in Silence
Whether it is outside in the sunlight or in a cozy area of your home or office. Take a moment and just sit with and focus on your breath. Not your to-do list or what you will eat for dinner; just sit and breathe for a few minutes.

4. Taking a workout class
Whether it is strength building, Zumba, or yoga. Do something to get your heart rate up. Moving your body can release the endorphins, build strength, create routines and be an excellent addition to your lifestyle. Think about it!

These items may seem insignificant, but they can improve your mood, health, and ability to manage your stress when done consistently. Do you have some tips that you use? Please share with us on social!

Be well!
