I am practicing what I preach by investing in my mental health rituals this month! May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and while I spend a lot of time helping others care for themselves, I’m using this month as a reminder to slow down and take care of me, too. Here’s how I’m honoring my mental health right now:
Staying Connected
I’m reaching out to those I love, even when nothing’s “wrong.” Because mental health isn’t just about managing crisis, it’s about building consistent support.
Creating Space Between Work and Life
I’m stepping away from my desk with intention, allowing myself to mentally shift gears whether it’s taking a walk or spending time with my dogs, Hamilton and Eliza.
Saying “No” Without Guilt
I’m reminding myself that boundaries are not rude, they’re necessary. I don’t owe anyone long explanations for protecting my peace. I promise you don’t either!
Scheduling Rest Like It Matters (Because It Does)
Rest isn’t a reward but it’s part of how I function at my best. I’m putting downtime on the calendar just like I do client sessions.
Reclaiming Joy That Isn’t Tied to Productivity
I’m leaning into things that make me feel ALIVE. Music, journaling, dreaming! Not to get anything done, but simply because it feeds my spirit and fills my cup.
