When I turned 50, ten days ago, I realized something: I didn’t want just one big celebration. Don’t get me wrong… I LOVE cake and parties (and attention)! But what I really wanted was a whole year of living like life itself was the party.
So, I gave myself a challenge: 50 experiences before I turn 51.
Now, before you picture me jumping out of airplanes every weekend, let me be clear, not all of my experiences are wild or expensive. Some will be big, bold, bucket-list moments. Others will be small, sweet, and quietly life-giving. What they all have in common is that they stretch me to say YES to joy, to growth, to being present.
Milestones can either cause us to focus on what is behind us, or they can invite us to embrace what is ahead of us. I’m choosing the second option!
This is my way of practicing what I preach which is…. we can always create space for play, courage, and curiosity even when life feels too busy, too heavy, or too serious.
And maybe, just maybe, my “50 for Fifty” will spark something in you. What would your version look like? Maybe it’s five adventures before the year is out. Maybe it’s a promise to try one new thing every month. Maybe it’s finally saying yes to that one thing you have been thinking about for years.
I’ll be sharing my experiences on social media and monthly in the newsletter.
The wins, the flops, the lessons, and the laughs, I am excited to share the experience with you. I hope they inspire you to write your own list and give yourself the gift of new experiences.
If turning 50 has taught me anything, it’s that life shows up every single day. Make sure you’re experiencing the parts that fill your cup!
Take five quiet minutes this week and ask yourself:
- What’s one new experience I’ve been curious about but haven’t made time for?
- What’s something small and doable that would bring me joy right now?
Then write it down, circle a date on the calendar, and commit to making it happen. Your version of “50 for Fifty” starts with just one yes.
