Enjoying my New City

I am spending my time appreciating the city that I live in. As a native Southern Californian, I have always loved where I lived.

After years of traveling, I ended up in Texas of all places. I’ve been here a long time—soon, I will have lived here longer than in California. Yet, this will never truly feel like home. Initially, I had a really bad attitude about living here.

However, I’m now in a better place and recognize that there are many wonderful aspects of where I currently live. My outlook changed once I adjusted my perspective and understood that I can still love where I’m from while appreciating where I am.

These feelings are not mutually exclusive, and I am so glad I figured that out. Now, I don’t feel like I have to constantly profess my love for where I am from while simultaneously denying where I am.
