When I think about the term work/life balance, it makes me laugh. I laugh because, for so many people, their work is their life and vice versa. Most people spend 9 hours a day, five days a week at their place of employment. Considering that Americans in urban areas travel anywhere from 30 minutes to 90 minutes each way to work….the time adds up. If not addressed, your life can easily end up unbalanced.
The line between work and life is blurred for many people, and it often happens without us noticing. We notice overall fatigue in our bodies, cognitive deficits including memory and concentration problems, lower frustration tolerance, and mood-related issues. More often, people equate the previously mentioned issues with a possible medical diagnosis. Of course, that is always a possibility. However, it is more likely that the balance in our life is off-centered and that is what is causing us discontent.
Take the time this year to balance your life and prioritize what is important.
Be Well
