Listening

September 7, 2022

Remember when people would only debate topics about which they were truly informed? I miss that. I feel the world has gotten to where it is perfectly appropriate to make your opinion known on every topic, even if you have ZERO knowledge about it. I am guilty of this as well. It became extremely obvious to me the other day while listening to my husband discuss the intricacies of how basketball players are rated for the salary they earn.

Something of which I know less than nothing. I was chiming in on what I think they should do and why. Although I appreciate my husband and his friend for allowing the non-sensical interruption, I realized something. My unsolicited opinion is not only unnecessary but is also a disservice to the overall discussion. So, from now on, I will ensure that the talks I involve myself in are appropriate places for me. I hope more people do the same.
